The main types of referral are:

GP Referral

An individual has presented at the GP and the GP has explored methods of diagnosis and feels the need to refer the patient to a specialist unit to be assessed and diagnosed.

Specialist Referral

This is when a patient is being seen by a specialist for a certain ailment and the specialist suspects that further investiagation or treatment is required so refers the patient to a specialist centre.
