Trauma
Salford Royal has been designated as the primary receiving centre for Major Trauma in Greater Manchester.
The service is one of the largest in the United Kingdom serving a population of approximately 3.2 million.
Over 1000 major trauma patients are admitted per year of which more than 600 have suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Patients are brought directly to Salford Royal and also transferred from other hospitals across the region.
The co-ordinated clinical care provided by neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-intensive care, neuro-anaesthesia and rehabilitation has meant that the survival rates for head injury put us as one of the best performing hospitals in the United Kingdom.
There is a dedicated trauma ward with staff experienced in the management of patients who have suffered trauma to allow a holistic approach to their management and rehabilitation.
