Ahmed is the Director for the Clinical Fellow Program in Salford Royal where he leads a team that oversees the training of more than 160 locally employed doctors.

Mr Bailey is a consultant neurosurgeon who specialises in surgery for the treatment of epilepsy, brain tumours and hydrocephalus in adults and children.

Having qualified in 1993 after medical school on Manchester, I spent time in Queensland, Australia doing Emergency Medicine before returning the northwest for anaesthesia training. Following the completion of Specialist Training I sent time working at the Walton Centre, Liverpool before taking up a substantive in 2002 at Salford Royal. I have an interest in pre-operative medicine and complex spinal surgery. I am a member of the UK Cell Salvage Action Group and am the Chair of the North West Regional Transfusion Committee. I have been a member of Council of the Neuroanaesthesia and Critical Care Society since 2014, being elected to honorary treasurer in 2019.

Dr David Chambers

Dr Chambers has been a Consultant Neuroanaesthetist at Salford Royal since 2018. His clinical interests are anaesthesia for awake craniotomy, where patients are awake for some or all of their brain tumour surgery, and complex spinal surgery. He is also the clinical lead for total intravenous anaesthesia and the electronic anaesthetic chart. His other interest is postgraduate medical education – he is the North West ‘FRCA tutor’, a role which involves coordinating the teaching provision for postgraduate anaesthesia trainees who are preparing for their higher examinations. In addition Dr Chambers has written a number of articles and books, both in anaesthesia and my first career of research chemistry.
