Dr Umbareen Sidqui
Dr Sidqui began her career in Anaesthesia in the Manchester and London deaneries which gave her the opportunity to develop an expertise in neuroanaesthesia, neurocritical care and neuro-interventional radiology (post CCT-fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London), locum consultant posts in Neuroanaesthesia (Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and North Bristol Trust) and complex spinal surgery (Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore).
Dr Sidqui teaches simulation and has further developed this experience with a quality improvement (QI) focus. In 2016 she set up a national patient safety-initiative course in Obstetric resuscitation for the Obstetric Anaesthetists Association. More recently Dr Sidqui has collaborated with the Royal College of Anaesthetists, to teach non-anaesthetists how to deliver safe sedation in her capacity as a committee member of the National Safe Sedation group. Dr Sidqui is passionate about patient safety and in September, 2018 I started an MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors’ (University of Edinburgh) to inform and instruct her proactive with respect to reducing clinical risk and delivering effective leadership within her own and wider practice.
